Becoming Real - Snow Drift Love

'Relatively few artists seem geographically rooted. It’s rare that a musician can capture the sense of the place in which they work – but Becoming Real is slowly becoming the sound of London today: intimidating, confusing, and beautiful.

As with much of his previous work, ‘Snow Drift Love’ straddles the line separating grime and two-step. It sounds snow-blasted, as if tundra has descended on the city. But the most exciting thing about Becoming Real is the humanness of his music. Yes, everything sounds almost impossibly digital – but in the gently swung percussion and the not-quite-on-the-grid synth lines, the overwhelming sense is one of man, not machine.
