Slugabed - Wake Up feat. Szjerdene

"Slugabed's new single Wake Up is out today.
This limited and beautifully idiosyncratic 7" is the result of a fruitful collaboration between Slugabed and talented singer Szjerdene (pronounced JhurDEEN).
Greg Feldwick aka Slugabed combines Szjerdene's R+B inspired vocal with his notoriously layered melodies creating a killer track. The pair have previously collaborated on Szjerdene's EP Patchwork through a mutual respect for each other's work. This track follows Slugabed's critically acclaimed debut album Time Team." via Ninja Tune

There's a magic inside.
Just waiting to burst out.

Dntel, Herbert – My Orphaned Son / It’s Only

"Pampa’s output has always been practically impossible to predict, regardless of the protagonist involved. This time, the responsibility lays in the hands of label boss DJ Koze and goofball-techno loving duo Die Vogel, who are trusted with remixing two particularly poignant, emotive and melancholy works of electronica.

Die Vogel do an adept job at tackling Dntel’s “My Orphaned Son”, as they replace the original’s saddening tones with something far more upbeat. A series of intricate melodies (spurred by a host of chimes and bells) do the trick, while the titillating piano line practically laughs in the face of the record’s somewhat callous title. In fact, it’s not until the second half of this interpretation that any of the original’s prime characteristics come into play, by which stage the record has already firmly nailed its colours to the mast.

The flip side though, is more concerned with leaving an impression; a feat achieved (again) with sumptuous ease by DJ Koze. Indeed, a quick listen to Herbert’s “It’s Only” marks it out as precisely the sort of tune that’d prickle his very ears, with its sultry female lyrics, irregular guitar chords and piano keys ensuring it leans towards unconventional territory. So what of the remix? Well, Koze – and this is expected – frogmarches it toward atmospheric planes, with a barrage of ghoulish flutes ensuring it’s one that’s particularly suited to this time of year. He shrewdly grants the vocal an added dimension too, chopping and skewing it so that it neatly fits in with the rest of the record’s warped and freaky vibes. Should you appreciate Koze’s many oddball charms, chances are you’ll appreciate this remix, as it emphasises his propensity for the dynamic, the unique and – let’s be frank – the downright weird. Pampa’s latest double A-sided joint is all killer…and no filler." via I Voice

Pachanga Boys - We Are Really Sorry Debut LP

"Rebolledo and Aksel Schaufler will follow some highly prized twelve inches as Pachanga Boys with a debut album, entitled We Are Really Sorry and set for release via their own Hippie Dance imprint in November.
The Mexican Cómeme artist and the Kompakt stalwart more commonly known as Superpitcher began working together under the Pachanga Boys alias some three years ago, contributing to severalKompakt Total compilations before launching the Hippie Dance label upon which they sought to spread the word of the “New Church Of Hippie”. Musically this has manifested itself as a slightly bizarre take on the melodic techno sound associated with Kompakt across a series of well received and highly sought after limited 12″s – copies of last year’s Girl Catcher are  currently listed between £160 and £220 on Discogs for instance.
Recently announced as one of the first artists to feature on Permanent Vacation’s projected John Talabot fIN remix series – for which they’ve actually submitted three versions of “When The Past Was Present” – Rebolledo and Schaufler will look to present a full length vision of the Pachanga Boys world on the amusingly titled We Are Really Sorry, described in the imaginatively penned press release as “an exhaustive recollection of their adventures on and off the road while finding their way to Pachangafarian enlightenment”.
Intriguingly, the 15 track set eschews the chance to include any of the previously released Pachanga Boys tracks in favour of all new productions, narrated by “the truly fantastic Dessagne twins from Saint-Etienne” and even comes accompanied by a DVD featuring a movie of the album which presumably documents the “roadtrip from Cologne to Cheesetown, Coffeetown, Boottown and back again” referenced in the bizarre press release." - via Junodownload
