Ellen Allien - Galactic Horse EP

"The new single from Ellen Allien "Galactic Horse" with two brand new tracks co-produced by BPitch artists' Skinnerbox!
BPC lady Ellen Allien requests your company at the Allien Dance. Dark Electro meets House! The current 12" "Galactic Horse" was co-produced by her label-mates Skinnerbox expect the unexpected, you might say and you would be spot on.
"Take Me Out" slams into your ears with a bone-dry, crunching oldschool-electrofunk beat. This is gradually sweetened over the course of the next seven-and-a-half minutes with catchy string hooks and atmospheric sounds. Whether in the club or on the couch, you'll find it impossible to resist the suspense that spans the track.
On the flip side "Need" treats us to a pure house beat as classic as it gets. Butyou soon realize that this carefree party vibe isn't really taking itself seriously brass hooks and playful vocal samples quickly and firmly take root in your auditory canals, leading you to hear "Need" as a tongue-in-cheek parody of house music. An eight-minute happy-hormone treatment with no side effects!" via BPitch Control

Reboot - Beautiful Parasite EP

"Beginning his relationship with Cadenza back in 2008, German production wizard Reboot has since frequented the label, his solid tech house soundscapes and innate ability to keep his musical structure moving forward being catalyst to his reputable name. Following the incredible ‘Shunyata’ album on Cadenza in 2010, Reboot is back on the imprint with the ‘Beautiful Parasite’ EP, including two remixes from Robert Dietz and Cesar Merveille.
Intense and suitably finickety, Reboot’s ‘Beautiful Parasite’ plays with glitches, sparks and tight wooden percussion patterns to begin. On first glance, it’s almost minimal in its confined touches but as a rumbling line of dark bass takes hold, “Beautiful Parasite” switches its identity and takes on a sultry persona. From there the changes come thick and fast with faint strings soaring gently in the background and sporadic cymbal crashes and hand claps creating texture. Reaching its dreamy edge with a warm and melodic mainline, the once stern atmosphere of “Beautiful Parasite” is coated in thick echo, doubled in depth and encased in melody.
First Cadenza comrade to take remix duty is Frankfurt’s Robert Dietz. Taking his tribal and percussion heavy signature, Dietz warps “Beautiful Parasite” into a dance killer, enhancing the percussive flow of the original and integrating a rapid bass line that simply can’t fail to move. Chopping the melody into stabbing sequences and morphing the bass into an arp’d, electro tinged bomb; “Beautiful Parasite” finds its feet firmly on the dance floor through Robert Dietz’s remix.
Cesar Merveille shifts the gear up another notch with a gloriously rapid attack for his remix. Chaotic percussion and crunching samples smeared across “Beautiful Parasite’s” balmy palette, Cesar injects an exotic and slinky edge.
Lastly, as a digital only bonus, “In The Sky” closes ‘Beautiful Parasite’ on a fresh note. Introduced with a vocal swoon fit for a diva, “In The Sky” breaks into a contradictory concoction of voltaic beats thereafter. Hissing shakers, plentiful claps and a rubbery bass line collide as the atmosphere moves up and down between subtle builds and breaks. Securing its groove with the epic ‘Your Loving Arms’ lyrics, “In The Sky” will no doubt cause an elated stomp on dance floors worldwide." via wordandsound

Martyn - Hello Darkness EP

"The single leads with 'Hello Darkness', previously unreleased and exclusive to the single, Martyn shuffles through a rhythmic bassline and feeling of, indeed, darkness from the very first beat. In typical Martyn fashion, the track skips its way through genre conventions, landing in a flux between 2-step, driving techno and old rave (the latter specifically heard in his ethereal and scaling upper melodies). 'Hello Darkness' could lend itself to the rawest, grittiest warehouse, yet simultaneously breeds a subtle feeling of elation and release, and keeps the listener guessing with a variety of quirky sound collages.
It also features a remix of 'Bauplan', Night Slugs bosses L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok bring the most sinister corners of London into their remix, with a heavy grime lean and a pervading feeling of tension. Erratic samples (sounds of a tweeting bird one moment, the cocking of a gun the next) appear in-between a snap beat, metallic stabs and an apocalyptic build-up of percussion and aalbsynths. Pulsing in and out of a highly volatile atmosphere, almost as if the track is alive and breathing, this 'Bauplan' almost feels like an unrelated beast until Martyn's melody lines start to unfold halfway through the track.
To finish there is an exclusive remix of 'We Are You In The Future', a favourite from the Ghost People LP amongst critics and DJs across the board. Techno's notorious man in the red mask - Redshape - steps up to create a deep and dark Detroit interpretation of Martyn's freewheeling, sci-fi-enhanced joyride. Laced with ominous vocal samples ("It may be an accidental side effect of the drug"), the future takes on a slightly more dystopian feel with Redshape's melancholic strings, unpredictable percussion builds and a lingering, creeping reinterpretation of the track's original melodies. A definitive nod to the epic work of Derrick May and Carl Craig, with a hint of Kenny Larkin's intricate builds. " via Brainfeeder

Becoming Real - Snow Drift Love

'Relatively few artists seem geographically rooted. It’s rare that a musician can capture the sense of the place in which they work – but Becoming Real is slowly becoming the sound of London today: intimidating, confusing, and beautiful.

As with much of his previous work, ‘Snow Drift Love’ straddles the line separating grime and two-step. It sounds snow-blasted, as if tundra has descended on the city. But the most exciting thing about Becoming Real is the humanness of his music. Yes, everything sounds almost impossibly digital – but in the gently swung percussion and the not-quite-on-the-grid synth lines, the overwhelming sense is one of man, not machine.

Kasper Bjørke - Lose Yourself To Jenny Feat. Jacob Bellens (Rebolledo Remix)

Copenhagen‘s favourite wonderchild Kasper Bjørke is back with his second artist album on hfn music, entitled ‚Fool‘. Set for release on April Fools Day 2012 (April 1st), the album is a playful mixture of abundant, pop-infused bittersweet love songs on the ‚Hunger‘ side, and more spaced-out pschedelic disco voyages on the ‚Foolish‘ side.
Amongst the plethora of quality on offer on the LP, we find ‚Lose Yourself To Jenny‘, one of a handful of songs yet again featuring the wonderful talents of Jacob Bellens, of Murder and I Got You On Tape fame.
The original version is bound to roam the airwaves with its super catch melody line, and Bellens‘ mature and intruiging lyrics. 80s newbeat and nu-wave meets modern studio charms in this catchy synth-pop ballad for 2012.
This single hosts a variety of outstanding remixes, from the likes of Axel Boman, Rebolledo, Till Von Sein and Maxxi Soundsystem.
Rebolledo‘s echoing drum-led mix that sounds like it could have been dropped at the Paradise Garage with its live feel and raw aesthetic... via hfn-music

Hot Chip - Flutes

'Flutes' is the first track off their upcoming album In Our Heads, produced by Hot Chip themselves and Mark Ralph in London, out on Domino on June 11th. 'Flutes' is a straightforward electro-pop-meets-rave-gem, which may not sound too muscley in this YouTube clip below, but is much more bold and deep in the final version..' - via electronicbeats

Orbital - New France (feat. Zola Jesus)

'On April 2, Orbital return with Wonky, their first new record in eight years. It includes a collaboration with Zola Jesus on the song "New France".
The track's video, directed by Ian Bucknole, features a fluffy teddy bear who decides to escape a life of tea parties and princess crowns for one of dude-oriented hedonism. He hangs with two fun guys who shoot pool, sip brews, watch gory films, and even go out to a swanky dance club. But our protagonist soon struggles to come to terms with whether it's all worth it.' - via Pitchfork

Perc - Choice (Walls Remix)

"Perc Trax is proud to present the 2nd and final EP of Wicker & Steel remixes a release that demonstrates the range of music that can now fit into the Perc Trax universe with ease. Across these four mixes ambient, drone and Balearic house sounds fuse together to add a fresh spin to some of the best known tracks from Perc’s debut album.
First up is Walls, a duo who are now one of the rising stars of the current Kompakt roster. Riding high from the success of their self-titled debut album and now gearing up to release their 2nd album ‘Coracle’ their fusion of Balearic house with shoegaze-tinged guitar tones has captured the imagination of many. All of these elements are present on their remix of album opener ‘Choice’. An ambient introduction gives way to kind of arpeggios and synth bassline that will have Border Community fans salivating." via Perc Trax

Amirali - In Time [Crosstown Rebels]

"Damian Lazarus is known for his A&R acumen, and Amirali is the latest artist he's thrust into the spotlight. The Iranian-Canadian producer hadn't put his name to any recorded material until earlier this year, when Crosstown Rebels released Beautiful World, the single extraction from the upcoming album. According to a press release, Lazarus was on the hunt for something more "alternative" when he stumbled across Amirali, and it shows—In Time is a hard-to-categorize medley of house, downtempo and avant-pop, often led by the artist's own brooding vocals. Amirali will support the album with a string of live performances throughout the spring, including dates at Get Lost in Miami and Lovebox in London. " via Resident Advisor

Telefon Tel Aviv - The Birds Remixes

"Telefon Tel Aviv have mastered the art of balancing the bitter-sweet romance and occasionally excessive melancholy of so many 80s electro-pop pearls, dusting off their retro sleeves and presenting them in the form of lavish melodic epics.
The new EP features the intoxicatingly beautiful album opener “The Birds” in its original version and in two remixes that could hardly be more contrasting: BPC label boss Ellen Allien spontaneously blows away the sombre fog clouds of the original with a crisp house beat and vibrant acid sequences.
Ghostly International co-founder and self-confessed Brian Eno fan Matthew Dear has already revealed his distinct fondness for sinister soundscapes on his own album Black City and his remixes for The Chemical Brothers, The XX and The Drums. His version of “The Birds” occupies ambiguous stylistic territory, combining amiable singer-songwriter elements with electronica of considerable atmospheric density..." via BPitch Control

Sanasol - Tambourine Man

"Initially released in 1997, Tambourine Man was a sleeper hit of it's day. Picked up by some discerning DJ types again in recent times, the track has seen heavy rotation in some major clubs already. Quite an innocuous sounding track on first, home listening inspection, the magic really starts to shine through once some serious VOLUME is introduced. Try it - you might well like it." via Resident Advisor
